This month, the 8th grade Art class elaborated a very Mexican Project, alebrijes – brightly colored sculptures of fantastical animals, which are very popular in Mexican culture. Alebrijes were first introduced in the 1930s by Pedro Linares. In honor of this very patriotic month, each team created their own alebrije, using simple materials such as newspaper, glue, paint and a lot of imagination!
